New dahlia brand ABBEY® by DBA

The Dahlia Breeders Association (DBA) from De Kwakel introduces the new dahlia brand ABBEY®. Under this name, DBA is launching ten new dahlia varieties: Abbey Havana, Abbey Josefina, Abbey Lima, Abbey Manta, Abbey Rumba, Abbey Salta, Abbey Samba, Abbey Sofia, Abbey Teresa, and Abbey Valeria.

DBA is a collaboration between breeder Agriom and ornamental horticulture entrepreneur Karel van Rijn. Since 2022, a special breeding program has been established. The breeding takes place partly in De Kwakel, the Netherlands, and partly in Limuru, Kenya. In Limuru, Agriom has its own selection garden. The breeding focuses on extending shelf life while also seeking spectacular flower colors and shapes.

DBA places great importance on providing disease-free plant material. The propagation is managed in-house using tested, virus-free mother plants. Plant material is produced in De Kwakel (the Netherlands) and offered as rooted cuttings.
